Chemical, biochemical and virology laboratory fully equipped in a modern manner.

 

Routinely used research techniques.

Bioorganic chemistry. Methods and techniques of up-to-date bioorganic synthesis with focus on chemistry of nucleosides, nucleotides, nucleic acids, boron clusters, metal complexes, and their bioorganic/inorganic conjugates. Physicochemical and biochemical evaluation of the obtained molecules. Most modern chromatographic and spectroscopic methods are used, among others: ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-VIS), infra-red spectroscopy (FT-IR), circular dichroizm (CD), nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) for 1H, 13C, 31P, 11B nuclei, different techniques of mass spectroscopy (MS), gas chromatography (GC), liquid chromatography including HPLC (UV and electrochemical detection), FPLC, electrophoresis, basic molecular modeling.

 

Virological methods. Cell culture techniques, placental cell and organ cultures, virus replication and quantification (TCID50, PFU, real-time PCR). Molecular biology techniques: DNA and RNA extraction, detection of hCMV and EBV DNA (PCR, real-time PCR), reverse transcription and gene expression by real-time PCR, SNP analysis, sequence analysis. Detection of viral antigens: immunofluorescence assay, shell vial assay. Cytokine biological assays: TNF assay, IFN assay. Techniques for assessing antiviral agents.

 

We offer detection of cytomegalovirus (hCMV) in clinical specimens (for research use only). Cytotoxicity testing of compounds in cell lines and antiviral activity (anti-hCMV, HSV-1, VSV,  EMCV, HPIV3) in cell cultures.
